the only national waiting list and features the most comprehensive
data available in any single field of medicine.

Donated organs are a precious gift. UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing) helps make sure
that these organs are placed in the most equitable way possible. The UNOS Organ Center is
available 24 hours a day, every day of the year, to facilitate organ sharing among transplant
centers, organ procurement organizations, and histocompatability laboratories across the U.S.
The primary functions of the Organ Center are to: 1.)assist in placing donated organs for
transplantation 2.)assist in gathering donor information and running the donor/recipient
computer matching process 3.)assist with transportation of organs and tissues for the
purposes of transplantation 4.)act as a resource to the transplant community regarding
organ-sharing policies.

donation in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and part of
western Wisconsin.

Mission
Alexa's Hope exists to end the waiting list for organ donation such that no person in need of an organ transplant is denied due to the lack of available organs. The Foundation will initially place an emphasis on support for families involved with pediatric donation and transplantation issues.
Background
Alexa's Hope was founded in 2007 within the state of North Dakota, as a non-profit organization to provide awareness, education, and support for organ donation and transplantation efforts. The goal is to save lives and/or enhance the quality of lives through organ and tissue donation and transplantation.
